At St Mark’s we want to be a worshipping community. But our worship is not
confined to church services. It is as much about how we live our lives and the
things that we do which show the “worth-ship” of our God.
So you will find us worshipping in the community by attending to the needs of
many groups. Our Scamps services are linked to the Chat and Play group that
meets in the church during the week. We have a Pathfinders group for young
teenagers. And at the other end of the spectrum our Young At Heart group
arranges activities for the over 60s. Through our community links and together
with Kancare we reach out to the sick and lonely. By exploring this web site
you will discover all the weekday worship of our church.
You will find worship in the form of services as well, of course. These range
from the fairly familiar – Parish Communion and Services of the Word – to
Storytime services, aimed at the families worshipping together, and Services of
Healing and Wholeness. We also host Alternative Worship events under the Search
banner.
Worship during services is led by ordained priests and lay members alike. And we
have a worship band whose members sing and play in a wide range of styles
including traditional hymns, meditative music (like that from Iona or Taizé)
and contemporary Christian music.
