Saint Mark’s pastoral team comprises a small group of people, who support the clergy
in their pastoral work within the community of Kempshott. Together we aim to
serve the needs of both our congregation and people who live within the parish.
As lay pastors we are not professionals although we have attended some training courses,
so we support people as friends and listeners in what we hope is a sensitive
and encouraging way.
As well as visits we sometimes deliver a card or flowers on behalf of the church.
We are very aware of the need for complete confidentiality and trust. In order to be
effective and useful we do depend on information about when we can be helpful
being given to us by both members of the congregation or our clergy.
We have a special relationship with the residents of Buckingham Court, working with
the manager of that complex. We hold occasional services at Easter, Harvest tide
and Christmas, when we are joined by Kempshott Junior School Choir who sing to us
and with us. The services are led by our clergy. We also hold regular Communion
services. All these events take place in the community hall on Buckingham Court
and are supported by members of the pastoral team.
We like to feel that we are making a valuable contribution to the work and outreach of
Saint Mark’s and would be happy to speak to anyone who thinks we could be helpful in any way.
Please contact the church office during office hours, or leave a message if you
would like someone to contact you.
