Mission and St Mark's

There is a real heart for mission at St Mark's and as well as praying regularly for all our mission work, we use 10 percent of our income to support three specific missions financially. We are also linked with other agencies which we support in practical ways.

We have a tangible connection to Mission Aviation Fellowship (MAF) through David and Jen Pett and their sons - Jen is sister to Sue Wood from our own congregation. David flies for MAF in Arnhem Land, Australia and the whole family are involved in outreach projects in the community. We are supporting that outreach through our Runway Appeal, raising money for wind-up MP3 players to enable the Bible and worship material to be heard in 8 homelands

Compassion is an international evangelical Christian child sponsorship organisation and we are privileged to have Sue and Will Hooper from our fellowship as Compassion Advocates. Saint Mark's has a church link with the East African Pentecostal Church in Kiugu and their Compassion funded project in the village. Through the link, individuals in the church support the education and development of 57 children through direct sponsorship.

Compassion for Kiugu DayRecently we held a Compassion for Kiugu day. We spent time praying for the Children we sponsor there, the church and the Compassion project, and for the link between our two churches. We also had an African Lunch together.

Mission to Kempshott is about getting out into the community, reaching into the heart of Kempshott and listening to its cry. In particular we are currently focussing on our work with the elderly and with young persons' groups.
